barred owl in gatineau park

this owl was patient enough so i could get close.

i had to do some cloning to remove branches.
any thoughts?

I like it. Look at them big claws that owl has. Bet those would hurt if he attacked!

What kind of lens did you use?

VERY NICE,,I like the perch branch at a diagonal, it makes a strong statement.
The beak looks a little smudged, and on my (uncalibrated) pc, I see a slight yellow hue. I find it Interesting that the barred owl has such dark eyes as compared to the bright yellow of all the other species of owls.

thanks guys, i used a 18-55 canon lens at 55.

i don't know how that smudged beak came about, i think it's simply out of focus.
it was a bright day with light reflecting of the snow, perhaps that's why the dark eyes?

here's another barred owl, with a flash this time and same thing, it let me get close enough so i could use the 18-55mm.
it was snowing at the time and the flash reflects on the flakes.
