batteries for 430ex?

What are the best batteries for a 430ex? I have some 'regular' batteries in there, and they worked well for a really short time. now they still work, but it takes forever for it to power up enough to fire. This does not work well with children. I need soemthing better, but there are sooo many choices I don't know what to pick.........

I got some from Costco for 3 bucks, 15 minute recharge, 6 AA's 2 AAA's, even a car charger. Very happy. I also carry spare alkaline if those go bad.

I use 2500 mAh Nimh batteries, I have two sets and carry alkaline batteries as a back up.

Yes, and they have a fast recycle time up until they are just about drained. Alkaline batteries are great when fresh but the recycle times drop as the power is drained.

I got about 400-500 shots with one set of Nimh batteries yesterday.
