    hello all,

Its pretty obvious I am a beginner, since I am posting in this thread.

Anyway, I was wondering is it possible to take quality pictures with a digital camera. I'm not sure of the technical term for it. I have a Song Cyber-Shot, DSC-S500. Its basically one those auto-focus cameras.

Can I make a some-what quality picture that captures the moment?

Yes you can, but for compact cameras like yours you should follow these guidelines:

    - Shoot in well-lit conditions. Compact cameras do best on sunny days, etc.. They have a tendency to do very poorly in low-light.
    - Can you manually set the ISO level? If so, try to stay at the lowest ISO number possible. (if you don't know what ISO's are, look them up)
    - Learn photoshop. Your camera is sub par compared to DSLRs, but photoshop can help you out a bit if you know what your doing.

    Good luck.

My aunt has been doing photography for a year now, and she showcases all her photos. I thought I could try my hand at some lower end photography.
