This summer I'll be going on a trip to Kos, Greece, and I thought it might be time to get a better all purpose lens that also works for travel than the 18-135 kit lens I'm using now.
I'm using a 70D, APS-C, as my main camera, plus an older 50D, also APS-C, that I've gotten modified for full spectrum (mostly using it for astrophotography). I don't have any intentions of upgrading to fullframe anytime soon, but I can't say i'm not going to in the future.
Up until now, I've looked at the following lenses:
Canon 17-40mm F2.8L
Canon 24-105mm F4L
Sigma ART 18-35 F1.8
My price range is about 750-1000$

Looks attractive to me, but i feel like the focal length is going to limit me somewhat.
Also: Red Ring

Looks very attractive to me, especially the long focal length, but im afraid the 24mm will we very long on APS-C.. I also have a slight worry about the slower aperture, but I'm not sure about that. Red Ring.

I'm very impressed by this lens, but the limited focal length is what keeps me from choosing this.. It doesn't seem like a good choice for all purpose when it's that limited. I love the look of the lens, probably more than one should.
