Best camera for under $150

I have done a few Google searches and found some info but I wanted to come here and see if anyone else could help out.

My wife and I are going to Mexico in June. We have been in touch with a woman who runs a charity teaching kids English and we were trying to help out and asked for a list of items that they need. Amongst other things on the list is a digital camera. So I think for under $150 we should be able to find something that is going to be of use to the charity.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Oh and we are from Australia so we are going to have to order it from Adorama so that it works with the power in Mexico so the camera needs to be available there.

I would have guessed some type of Nikon Coolpix for that kind of price. Or maybe a Canon Powershot of some some kind (?)
