Best way to convert a portrait to sepia?

What's your technique for converting a portrait to sepia in PhotoShop?

I've recently started using a duotone conversion and it seems to give really nice results.

Basic steps:

1. image---->mode---->grayscale (okay to lose the color info)
2. image--->mode--->duotone
3. set type to duotone
4. load (I use either the 144 orange bl2 or the brown 464 bl1)
5. image--->mode--->RGB
6. Adjust curves to taste (although I adjust the curves of the brown tone sometimes as well)

Anybody else got any good techniques?

What I usually do is:

-Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation
-Colorize
-Fiddle with Hue.

Might not be the best method.

I use the method Daniel uses. Hue around 40, sat somewhere around 10-20. I normally use a channel mixer layer for the B&W conversion first.

I use the same method that Daniel and Matt use and I too convert to b/w first.

I've only done this a couple of times, and went the same route as Sharkbait. I guess I've been around offset printing too long. The price between a 2-color job and 4-color separations was always a primary concern. I'm certainly gonna try the colorize approach.

Personally I usually pick the channel (red or green, almost NEVER blue) that best suits the photo or my preference of how I want it to look in duo then convert to grayscale from that cahnnel. Then select Duotone and load the secondary color of choice (everything differs for just about all of my photo's!) then adjust curves, levels, ect. I usually only go back to RGB if I have to.
