Ok, no one even has to say it. Why is the darn goat centered right? Don't even ask me. I don't know why. I'm currently seeking therapy for my centering problem. Other than that, whadaya think?

As will most rules...the "don't center your subject" rule was made to be broken.

Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. This shot works.

I think it works because there are lines, created by the fence, that lead the eye in and out of the photo. It's when there is no path for the eye, that a centered subject creates a poor photo.
 
I believe that's the most intelligent comprehensive explanation of centered photos I've heard yet. Thanks. Thanks for the enlightenment. Who needs therapy when I have you people on the photo forum?
