Not wanting to sound rude or like I know what I'm talking about, because I really don't, but for some reason I can't enjoy this picture. The band of shadow might have something to do with it, but also the subject just doesn't seem right for b&w. How would a colour shot of it look?

I'd try to retake the shot when there's not a shadow and leave it in color.

Much better in color but I hate to say this, but the shot has a giant ugly shadow in the middle. >_<
