Black Cats: cute but the photometer hates them!

I've made some tries with my wife black cats (I think she's secretly a witch - she has 3!!!).

Just discovered that the auto focus goes crazy with all the black fur, so it's useless.

Comments and tips on how to make better photos of black pets are very much welcome ;-)

I go with center weighted metering and expose for the black, let the background blowout and use a flash to get some detail out of the black. I'm not a pro but it works for me.
