daylon, sorry to not answer you right away. i couldn't explain it to you if i tried.
i use gimp instead of ps and i just did a search for a tutorial on selective color and followed the instructions. it was pretty simple.
you know, maybe it would have looked nice with the leaf colored in too. the main reason i colored the ladybug was when i changed it to black and white, i couldn't even see the ladybug.

i do agree the crop is much stronger than my version. and yes, the ladybug had taken off from the leaf so coloring the leaf would have helped show that.
