no, really...he's on an outcropping of rocks while the tide comes in...at least 30 yards away from solid land.

So what is the problem?? he's fishing.
 
Could be dedication to his past time. We had a similar spot on Long Island, a 100' jetty with a square structure at the end. You go out when the tide was rising. The rising tide would cover the rocks and you were stuck out there til the tide dropped. However, that was the hottest fishing spot around and you went out early to claim your spot. There was a fishing pier about 150' away that saw very few fish being caught while you were hitting your limit.
 
Meh, I tend to agree.

I fished a mark over here where it's similar though the rocks were taller. If the boys fished it in comps and the tide times didn't suit they'd just swim back to land their catch in time and returning at low tide to get their gear. No men feat considering our water temps are very cold the whole year round.
