At first I thought it was a little early for antlers to be appearing but then realized we're almost into Aug. When I get back in will be time to set up the game camera on the backside of my place to see what this year's crop looks like.

So is rut in October or later there? Rut is all messed up here, dosen't seem really get started good till January. Rumours are that the integration of northern deer into our herds has messed up thier biological clocks.

November through February is the general time frame. Depending on how the rains go, it can come earlier or later or, as has happened in the past, it doesn't necessarily follow any specific time frame. We've had fawns for the last two or three months on a regular basis. I saw one just this morning. While it has been a horridly hot summer, it has also been a rainy one.
