Sorry no offence intended, and I know that wasn't what you said. I understand your point about teachers preferring students to use cameras which are "more manual" (or perhaps "less auto")... I was just trying to show that manual-focus cameras of the type preferred by teachers, like the AE-1, have some modern conveniences too. The point being that you could mention this to the tutor if he tries to make you go out and buy such a "fully manual" camera when you already have a camera perfectly capable of having focus and exposure set manually (as the OP does).

It wasn't meant as a criticism of you, but of any teachers who would make such arbitrary restrictions.
