California Poppies

Well the poppies are starting to bloom in the more irrigated places in southern CA so I set out today to see if I could get a few decent shots.

Not sure if I did too much with the curves on this first one though..

Wow, I love the contrast between the colour of the poppy and deep blue sky! I am curious if perhaps the bottom foliage could be cropped off and perhaps less sky? Not certain. The starburst effect in the second is also amazing.

Nice to see that spring is coming.

hehe.. the second picture was like a crap shot. With the wind a blowing and the flowers dancing around it was just press the shutter and hope the flower and sun were in good position. Tried looking through the viewfinder a few times but decided I did not want to go blind so just took around 20 shots to have a good chance of getting what I was wanting.
