just wondering if all the crap I have to put my camera through at the airport will mess it up?

Because I'd rather have it as a carry-on then the chance of it getting stolen/damaged

    thanks guys

Never ever ever check your camera. Ever. Always take it in your carry on.

As you can probably tell from this post, I always take my cameras in my carry on and the machines don't 'mess it up'.

I assume you're talking about a digital camera instead of film.

    No danger from x ray.

But as Antarctican said - NEVER check your camera. Carry it in your carry-on.

That's right. X-ray won't do any harm to digital cameras etc.

I have been asked to show that my camera turn on (that it's really a camera) but that's rare. More often, they have taken a swab of the camera.
