Canon 28-80mm USM AF motor?

Anybody have any experiences with having non-functional AF fixed on USM lenses? I purchased a Canon 28-80mm USM that the AF does not work on and am kind of curious how much it might be to repair it. I don't know what is wrong with it which obviously presents an estimate problem but I also do not know if there are any common failures with these lenses.

For that lens, I'll bet it would be more cost effective to replace it than to send it in.

Ya I was just curious. I'll just use it in manual if it's gonna cost too much. No big deal I guess
