Canon Digital Rebel XT problem.

I don't think this is the right forum. But if anyone can help me it would be appreciated. To take a picture, I have to click the shutter release button once and then again to take the picture. The first time I click it, the shutter closes, and then I have to click it again to take the picture. It's quite annoying, and it's only in manual mode. Auto mode I only have to click once. I want to know how to fix this to only have to press the shutter release button once. It's nothing with shutter speed or anything either. Thanks

Your camera has mirror lockup enabled. I don't know how to access it on Canons, but google "rebel XT mirror lockup" and you'll have an answer really quick.

EDIT: Ok, I went and looked it up myself. "go to menu then go all the way to the right. go down to custom functions (C.Fn) then go right to the number 07 and then disable it." Some random guy said that. Go ahead and try that out.
