I am in need of a new lens considering that I only have a 50mm f/1.8 prime and i was thinking of purchasing the Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM lens. This is going to be a walkaround lens which will do some large family shots, some close ups, and some landscape shots of the beach. Will this work? Thanks in advance!

To me 28mm is not wide enough for landscape on a 350D (with the 1.6x crop factor that's roughly equivalent to 45mm). A zoom starting around 18mm would probably be more suitable.

I agree, that would be too long for me personally, as a walk-around lens. I would consider:
the EF-S 18-55 F3.5-5.6 'kit lens',
the EF-S 17-85 F4-5.6 IS,
the EF-S 17-55 F2.8 IS,
the EF 17-40 F4 L,
the Tamron 17-50 F2.8,
the Sigma 18-50 F2.8

If you don't mind 28mm as your wide end, maybe have a look at the 28-135 IS.

I don't really know a lot about the 28-105. I believe it to be a 'mid level' lens. Not terrible but not fantastic either.

I agree. I'm a big fan of 28-135mm IS for a nice zoom range and all-around lens. I've also borrowed and used the 17-85mm IS, which is nice for a wide end zoom lens. The 18-55mm kit lens is also good for the wide end, but doesnt have much of a zoom.
