Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III comments?

I'm about to buy one (second hand) since I need zoom lens for school events. It'll be the first lens that I'll buy, besides the lens included with my T3i which is an 18-55mm.

Why can’t you try the EF 55 – 250 f/4-5.6 IS, it’s only a 100 more but you won’t miss the 55 – 75 zoom.
If you are not concerned about the price then go with EF 55 – 250 f/4-5.6 IS STM, its fast than the previous version.

What's the reason you're purchasing this lens? Cost or focal length?
