CANON EF Lenses barrell sand cleaning

Hi guys, working on the beach is not so funny sometimes. I just found out that both my lenses, a Canon EF 24-70 and 70-200 have some sand in the focus barrell. Do you know how much is gonna cost me a cleaning? Do you think I could do it myself as long as the sand is only under the barrell mechanism?Help!!!!!!!

Sand is something I know! One thing is that it works its way deeper & deeper by you just LOOKING at it. Try a little air can with the long snout but that will just work it in deeper if you got it by dropping the lens or wind blowing it in.

Your profile doesn't say where you live but sending it into Canon is alwys the best bet. I have found them to be affordable and fast. they will always give you a free quote. I have mine cleaned a services every year or two and it's usually under a $100.
