Canon iP6000D and HP 2410 photosmart printers

I have both of these printers. My wife just bought me the Canon thinking it would do a better job than the HP. However, the Canon is more grainy while having better color and the HP always seem to print with a gray tone. I use a Nikon D70 camera.

Which printer is supposed to be better in print quality? Am I doing something wrong with the Canon?. I would like excellent quality prints so should I return the Canon and get something else? Which printer would you suggest ?
