canon powershot a520 and the e18 error

hi,

i am looking for a simple, compact, digital camera for work. i use an slr camera for more "artistic" purposes. this is just for snapping photos at meetings and stuff like that.

after doing some research i am quite fond of the canon powershot a520. i have two questions:

1) do you think i'm making a good choice??

2) what about the e18 error? is it known to appear in this particular model? if there is so much talk about it why isn't canon doing anything about it?
