Canon Rebel T2i ?'s

I am considering purchasing a canon rebel T2i from best buy. I am thinking about getting a package deal where you get a Canon - 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III Zoom Lens they also throw in a lowepro camera bag. The camera itself comes with a 18mm-55mm lens. They are wanting $1,029 and I figured I would get geek squad warranty so that is a extra $250. Whats does everyone think of these cameras? I enjoy taking pictures and have always wanted a nice reliable camera I am just hesitant to pay that much. Anyone having any suggestions on what would be my best bet.

As a general rule of thumb, the smaller the zoom range the better quality the zoom lens is.

How serious are you about photography? Is this your first camera?

Manufacturer's warranty should be all you need. Save the 250 or put it toward a high-quality lens.
