Can the Canon users of this forum list the top 3 lenses they have please?

I want to build me kit up a bit more and would love to see who's got their favorites.

Regards,
Jamie.

My favorites:

600 f/4 IS
70-200 f/2.8 IS
100mm f/2.8 macro

70-200 F2.8L IS
24-105 F4L (Great focal length walk around lens)
17-55 F2.8IS (Wide angle F2.8 with IS)

Those are the 3 favorite that I own. I have to also mention the 50MM 1.8 or 1.4. This should probably be in every bag. The 1.8 is cheap, but can be a lifesaver in low light.

Adding on to that last note, the 1.4 has an 8-blade aperture instead of the 5-blade of the 1.8, a metal instead of plastic bracket, and moderately better optics.

50mm 1.4
85mm 1.8
100mm 2.8 (macro)

If I could only own 3 lenses (out of the ones I currently own), it would be those. I would miss the 70-200 though...

I love all you prime shooters. My primes are growing on me, but it's hard to not have the 24-70 on my camera all the time because it's so convenient and tack sharp. But my 85L takes the most amazing pictures.

I agree, primes rock and I really want more of them.

only 3?? your mean!

For me it would be:
Canon 300mm f2.8 IS L
Canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS L
Sigma 150mm f2.8 -- yes its a sigma lens and I stand by it - the canon 180mm costs way too much and is heavier!

But if you really want another canon only lens then add one of the 400,500,600,800mm lenses to that list :)

Yes primes are loads of fun. For walk around (more versatile, relatively easy packing) and on trips, I also like:

24-105L
100-400L
50 f/1.4

Of the ones I own, here is the list:

70-200 f4
100mm macro f2.8
50 f1.8 (soon to be f1.4)

Soon to be added....100-400L

EF-S 10-22mm
EF 70-200mm F2.8 L IS

The 3rd spot is a tie...
Sigma 30mm F1.4
Tamron 17-50mm F2.8
EF-S 17-85mm IS
EF 50mm F1.8 mkI

For my current XSI (crop camera), if I had the money it would be:
10-22mm (EF-S)
70-200mm IS f2.8
24-70 f2.8

If I had a full frame:
70-200mm IS f/2.8
24-70mm f/2.8
16-35 f/2.8 or 17-55 IS f/2.8

I'm a fan of covering the widest range with less lenses.
Other lenses are the primes, 50mm or 85mm or 100mm macro.
