I have just started selling CDs with my work on it and am really trying to figure out how to make them look professional. Any tips? I hate giving naked CDs and naked boxes. I am getting a color printer soon, but at this time I cant print color (mine broke)

Check out a Lightscribe drive. It sort of etches a monotone image onto the surface of the disc. It can be a very classy look compared to a naked disk. You can get different colored disks but you only get that one color per disk.

You can buy self adhesive labels that you can print on. These aren't as nice of an option as the discs that you can actually print right onto, but you need a printer with a special disc printing tray. One company has a patent on it, here in North America but in Europe etc. you can get disc printing trays on most brands of ink jet printers.

And of course, the presentation and packaging can make a big impact. I currently use some nice leather bound CD cases, I can even have them hot stamped to personalize them.

I think it was WHCC that just announced custom printed cd's, but I could be wrong.

Interesting about the leather bound cd cases, if you dont mind, could you share the source? :D

I think you have to use some sort of labels to colour them so that you can reach your need .And it looks great with these labels in which we can show our mind on these also.

I get them from my local pro lab, Technicare. I don't know where they get them, there is no manufacture's label on them.

Yes, the cd/dvds that are writable with Lightscribe say Lightscribe on them. You also need a burner that writes Lightscribe, the software is bundled with the burner.
I bought an external burner that burns Lightscribe so you don't have to buy a new computer. This burner just plugs into my desktop with a USB cable.
I think it was about $60 over a year ago for the burner. The CD/DVDs cost about .75 - 1.50 each.

Most computers will allow you to replace an existing drive or simply add another internal drive...so there are more options than using an external one and buying a new computer. ;)

Good point, Mike. I guess I did imply those were the OP's only choices.
