    This is REALLY cool!

In the summer of 2008 USA Network sponsored 11 of the "most acclaimed" photographers from around the world to capture the character of America.

The Character Project is great inspiration!

I checked it out the other day and it's mostly pretty great. But what's with that Dawoud Bey character that just sticks the subjects in front of a wall and snaps off a shot. i don't think a photo of an interesting looking person could get any less interesting.

Why didn't the sponsor unknown photographers that actually don't have money and let them do it?

I agree with Jaszek point cause if you notice most of these photographers are using $15000+ setups I saw at least 3 Hasselblads and 2 large format cameras and 2 120-film rollies.
or at least give two of the spots to 2 of my favorite photographers Annie Leb. and Vincent
