A couple shot from Miami win over Arizona on Saturday 6/6/08, not the best shots but thought I would show them off anyway. They’re all hand head with EOS1 MIIn, 70-200 2.8 IS, 1.4 extender, shot at ether 800 or 1000 ISO. Plus IMO the lighting is bad

1) The shot is a little soft, the AF picked up the runner’s back over the first baseman

Very nice.

What camera/lens(es) were you using? Can you also post the Exif data?

At night games I get a lot of grain, even with my D200 (I had a D50 that was HORRIBLE)...

The Nikon D300 & D3 along with the Canon 40D & 1D MIII all have better high ISO noise reduction that any of the old models. With the my 1D MIIn I try to stay under ISO1000 because of noise. And I always shot RAW at night for the WB

Look good to me, the action is nicely captured. I understand next to nothing of the game, but like how you captured the movements and froze them well.
Thankfully the next time I'm having to do sports photography will be during the day ... and it will be swimmers, too.
But I guess I must not shoot RAW then since they want the photos available online that very night...
