It is an example of blue filter. You can choose any color you'd like
B+W has over 700 of them.
A colour filter is something you would use in the film days to accomplish the same goals as setting your White Balance now.
Unless someone else has some other use for a colour lens I am missing, they are useless now that you have White Balance setting in your camera.
Note: Not to be confused with other effects filters like Neutral Density filters or starburst filters.
