    I need your opinion here.

I just saw on ebay overhere the 1 day to go auction for 50mm f1.4.
If I am home tomorrow and it still on it with decent price maybe I will have it a go. The question is, will it work ok with this d40 of mine? If I don't put any bid - well it is nice to know more.

    Thanks in advance.

It should work with the camera. However you will have no autofocus, and the metering will not work. Unfortunately I cannot seem to find a d40 lens compatibility chart that I used to reference. Some non-ai lenses can damage the the camera, but I think the 50mm is not one of them. I will post the link if I find it.

I have the 1.8 version, it worked on my D40x, but it would not meter or autofocus of course. You have to set it to manual before it recognizes the lens.

Thanks for the infos and the chart, but with no metering I will give it a miss and I won't miss it I think. I will save the money for later, the zoom.

Btw there is another one just showed up in there.
