Contract, retainer, and release?

How do those of you in the business about a contract, retainer and release? A friend of mine and I plan to start photographing weddings and are just in the research stages. Any suggestions or tips would be extremely helpful.

I've seen some that are a few carefully chosen sentences on the same page as the price list...and I've seen some that are pages and small writing that cover just about everything.

The best option would probably be to have a lawyer, in your area, draft up a contract for you. However, you can probably put together somthing to fit your needs by searching for 'wedding photography contracts' on Google and picking the parts you think will work best for you.
