I just got a Nikon D50 and was wondering what software I should be using to convert the NEF files to TIFF (or other formats).

    Thanks

Really new to NEF myself. I use CS2. I was as frustrated as hell with converting one image at a time and like always (for me at least) right there in front of me was an option to batch process. Works for me.

one of the main advantages for using RAW is to be able to adjust exposure/white balence etc yourself for each image.... to get the look you want.... therefore I wouldn't see an advantage of batch processing..... unless you just have a bunch of snapshots or something...

If you are using CS2.... make sure you have the latest NEF plugin to get all the RAW editing options..... if not, you may want to consider downloading Rawshooter essentials which is a free programme and will convert your NEF's to TIFF.
