Take a look at this little beast.... i want one!

But on a serious note, the future implications of this technology looks promising. ;)

I've been following that design for a couple years. It's amazing how far they've come along. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1czBcnX1Ww"]Here is where they went public with the design.[/ame] The company's name is Boston Dynamics. Some good does come from defense spending occasionally.

I had seen the Big Dog video from a few years ago, but not the new one. They have come a long, long way.

Phew they have come a long long way - and look at the size of it - its tiny in the new video!
Motion still a little jerky, but I suspect with the massive advances in the computing control power they have achived its only a matter of time before they can refine it out to have an even smoother motion (and its small size might also be placing limits upon this)

I believe it becomes more fluid as it "learns". We're kinda hesitant as we learn to walk and progress as experience accumulates. The software is ground breaking. They're in the process of building a biped with it.

Well DARPA paid for it's development. Think it through.

Well for me it confirmed two things:

    1. George Lucas was right to give the AT-ATs legs... i used to wonder why on earth he didn't give them giant tire tracks rather than legs... now i know :p

    2. If this technology gets bought out by a company called Skynet we are all in trouble.

whenever anything new is invented, it's only ever a matter of time before some smarty-pants works out a way of making it kill people... either that or using it to peddle sex and pornography. Destruction or reproduction.
