    Hello all,

I don't shoot a lot of b&w, but this one was obvious when I saw the scene.

Any comment from b&w experts will be greatly appreciated.

I submitted this yesterday but it looks like it disappeared after off-line maintenance period.
I got a comment about sky and reflection lightness, can't remember who it was :(, but thanks anyway.

I like it, the picture gives a very relaxed vibe (i love the feeling after it rains). i just wish the sky was darker, would make it alot more dramatic.

It's a good composition that would benefit from a couple of tweaks. Firstly, I think it's just a little lacking in a full range of tones at the white end of the spectrum - an easy fix in PS (Image | Adjust | Levels). But the thing that makes a real difference to the crispness of the shot is to sharpen it (Filters | Sharpen | Sharpen)

I agree with Chris and think that particularly hurts the sky in the center of pic.

Chris is partially right but it is really not that fixable in postprocessing.

The quality of black and white photos is determined by the number of tones in the image from deep black to pure white. In this photo there is too much black, not enough mid tones and the clouds in the sky could be better delineated.

A polarizer or graduated neutral density filter on the camera would have helped tremendously to even the lighting situation and improve the tones. Perhaps a tripod, as well.

Thanks for your comments and advices.

    I agree and reworked it.
I generally prefer to post-process and light as possible and not use editing software.

I reworked the raw->jpeg, more sharp, little bit more mid tones.
I was not able to get much more high tones without loosing details in clouds, they are mainly between levels 245 & 255.
Maybe I must think about multi-zones edition...

Here is what I got, not a big difference, but better imo.

Skieur, a circ pol filter was on the lens, tripod and long exposure would have helped, no doubt.
