A B/W contrasty sorta abstract thing might work well since the texture of the cotton is very interesting.

I like the idea of a vertical shot to get a stalk or two as the main subject. However I don't think that would give the feeling of vastness the current picture does.

What I would like to see is two or three vertical pics put together into a horizontal panoramic. Taken at morning with the sun's golden light and maybe some dew on the cotton stalks.

A wide angle macro of the same could also be interesting.
