Critique my macro photography

Im new in the aspect of macro photography, so i would like a critque on this image

just anything you see that could use some work.

It's small and dark. Looks as though you exposed for the background not the object.

that was taken with the super macro mode. and i had the lens really close to the lens. is there a way in photoshop to maybe lighen up the subject?

I don't do photo shop but im sure there is. I have a couple of editors I use just as a digital darkroom and most of them have gamma corrections that will do it it.

I copied it into my photo editor and used the lasso to outline just the subject then raised the gamma and it helped a lot... Im sure there are other ways.
