D800E unable to toggle exposure simulation in LiveView

Every D800E resource I have read (manual, forums, etc.) states that pressing the OK button in LiveView mode toggles the exposure simulator on and off but the OK button does nothing in LiveView on my camera. Additionally, I cannot turn the shutter speed lower that 1/30 in LiveView. I have firmware version 1.10 (A and B), I am wondering if they disabled the exposure compensation with newer firmware versions?

My goal is to be able to focus on stars by switching on LiveView and zooming in on a star to manually focus but with the exposure simulation apparently stuck on and unable to turn the shutter speed slower that 1/30 I cannot get a clear view of a star to focus on even in high ISO at f2.8.

Nevermind, I just realized I had the LiveView set to movie instead of stills mode, easy fix!
