Sometimes we just have the wrong lens mounted. I was out with a 58mm lens shooting flowers when I came across two damselflys making whoopy by one of our ponds. Oh for a 135mm now! They are very tiny & hard to distinguish in the grass. I did not want to get too close for fear of flushing them so the flies are mere specks in the original full size pics.
