Dark blue jungle glory

    This rare beauty was taken yesterday at a forest reserve. This was a lucky encounter as this specie normally make its appearance at dawn or dusk. The underwings shown here does not even give a hint of the glorious flourescent dark blue coloration of the top wings.

    Taken with Canon 300D using 75-300 mm IS plus 12mm and 20mm extension tubes. Camera set at 1/160, f10 with ISO 400. Sigma 500DG flash with Stefon omnibounce fired.

    Great shot - Once I'd got over the fright!
    (I wish you all could put a warning on the butterfly/moth threads like you do the spider and snake threads!)
