I love the Mojave. When I was living in San Diego, I used to go to the desert every month with a couple buddies and camp for a weekend. We were all recreational shooters, and the dry lakebeds provided excellent long distance ranges (1000yds+).
I used to camp around the Hinckley, Victorville, and Barstow areas for fun. Uncle Sam sent me to 29 Palms every now and again.
This is north of Giant Rock off of the Old Woman Springs highway between Yucca Valley and Lucerne Valley. The mountains across the valley are along the western boundary of 29 Palms USMC base.
Oh, that looks hot and dry!
And the colours are really something else in the desert.
Living in the moors (all dried moor land around me), this is a sight I don't normally get to see. Thank you for sharing what you see when you go out!
