Dickcissel todays capture

    Really weird that this weekend as the rains just pounded us I found the Dicksissel pic I posted down below. Today as I was hanging out and hosing down the screen porch throw rugs wich got soaked. I heard the distinctive dik-dik sis-sis-sis call and spotted the first one of the year. I got this shot cradling the lens foot on a fencepost.

    A nice speciman of a male Dickcissel.

    Hey, nice capture! I like that you got him in song mode, and the composition, with him perched on a branch, is nice.

    Your focus did not QUITE land where you had planned for it to be (and I am sure you wanted the bird's eye in focus!), it is on the twiglet in front of him, but this is still a nice shot of him singing or shouting. I have tried so very many photos of "my" chaffinch here, and in only very, very few did I get the focus REALLY where it needed to be. In most it was as slightly wrong as I see in your photo. So you're not alone!!!
