Rider is Alex Dawson. Shot with either my 50mm 1.8 or Tamron 17-50 2.8 on my Canon Rebel. Lighting was a Canon 430EX and 430EZ triggered wirelessly. Let me know what you think!

There are more from that day on my Flickr account in my signature.

Good stuff.

I'm going to be in a similar setting this weekend...I'm going to take pictures of my friend riding his ATV. Do you have any tips on dealing with the setting? I have an SB-800 that I should be able to use, so I think I'm going to set that up on a tree and use it remotely.

ATV's will most likely be moving a lot faster so if the SB-800 has a fast shutter sync then I'd try that and see how fast you can get it to sync. And instead of relying on flash all the time, I try to get the background as close to a good exposure as possible and just use the flash as fill for the subject. Good luck with it.

If you want some good effects use second curtain sinc that means it fires as the shutter closes, set your shutter speed between 1/30 and 1/80 and set your flash to second curtain you may have to set the camera to second curtain also not sure with Nikon
here a shot with SC @ 1/80

Good shots i like #2 and the last maybe get a little closer on the jumps

Thanks for the comment, close is the opposite I was actually going for. I have plenty of close ups of the rider, now I'm practicing composition and just trying to get more of the scenery into the shot.
