I am looking into buying a Nikon 18-200mm VR lens. Some places have it in stock, but it's "imported." What is the disadvantage of this?

    Thanks a lot

as i understand it, they are the same lens' however if you need to send it back for warrenty work you will have to send the imported one back to the merchant as opposed to sending it directly to the manufacturer for repair.. I could be wrong but that is what I heard...

p.s.. I want that same lens... would be great all around..

Yup, that's right, Nikon will not do warranty repairs or any repair work on a gray market lens. It is the same lens, though.
