Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
I decided to do my dissertation for my final year at uni on photography and I have chosen to specialise in the area of movement in still images...

To do this I have decided to try and ask some of the big ballet schools in london if they will let me take photos during a practice. And also to approach a few privately run skate parks about taking photos there as well.

Has anyone had any experience of approaching relatively large institutions such as the ballet school and have any tips to pass on that might increase my chances of success.

Hi Scurra,
Best would be if you know someone on the inside. If not call them and ask for the manager, be patient and polite and promise them some free prints.

As well try to get your subjects to sign model release forms since at some point in the future you would want to use your images for commercial use. People usually agree to that especially when you give them the free prints, i recommend giving them high quality 5x7's.

Good luck and let us know how it went..

Tell them why you want to take pictures and tell them to get in contact with your tutor for confirmation. It shows that you are serious and not just some nutter. I always tell students to do this and it usually makes a big difference to their response.

Thanks guys I'm heading into london 2moro to shoot at the skatepark so i'll try and get some contact information on the ballet schools while i'm there and get started.

Ok I got some good shots at the skate park but i'm not allowed to publish them, I don't know if this means I can't put them up on here or not.

If someone could clarify exactly what publishing entails then I might be able to post some.

good heavens this thread was started over five years ago

It's SPAM! A frikin' advertisement for some UK .com.
The spammer dug up this long dead thread just to advertise. The post has been reported.
