Drayton Hall is located on the Ashley River just north of Charleston. It was completed in 1742 and survived the American Revolution and the Civil War, as well as a major earthquake and countless hurricanes. Today, it is in beautiful and very much original condition and is owned by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. It's a lovely and fascinating place to visit.
