DSLR Camera until US$ 700,00

Hey you guys! I'm new at this forum and I have some doubts about acquiring a new camera. I'm new on photography and I'd like your opinion.
All I have to buy an equipment is about US$ 700,00. I've seen Nikon D40 and enjoyed that. I'd like more options. There are a lot of criterion on choosing an equipment and your help is really important.

There's a D80 w/ 18-135 in the For Sale section for only $650. That's a pretty good deal I think.
