Don't quite know how it took me 7-8 months of storing my desktop monitor when I got my laptop to realize that, wait, I could use both.

But now that I have both hooked up.

    SO cool. :D

I've wanted to do this for some time. I think I'd like a monitor just for the tool windows in Photoshop.

I've got an nice 21" monitor sitting on the floor in my office here at work. I plan to take it home to put into my digital darkroom, I just need another video card to put into my computer.

I used two monitors for the longest time, it's very handy, but takes up alot of space.

Most video cards have a standard and dvi output.
A simple adapter will convert the DVI to standard and you can connect the other monitor.

    I run three. It's overkill I know, but I'm a huge nerd.

Top one is where Amorok lives, as well as weather, and "glance-at" stuff", bottom right is chat (IRC, GAIM) windows, RSS aggregator, and tools when I'm running gimp. Bottom left is whatever I'm actively working on. That monitor is also on the KVM for working on the windows box or the server.

    Overkill..

    I count 3 monitors, a scanner, two (maybe 3?) towers...in about 4 square feet.

Well, I had my 3 or 4 hours of feeling like my setup kicked ass :p
