How many times did you have to try to get a shot of a dragonfly in flight ? I tried it last weekend but no success at all. Nice pictures.

This is the second one I'm really happy with. I've taken about 40 shots trying to get it right. I shoot them on a bright day so I can get plenty of shutter speed at about f7.1 (my lens is sharper there than wide open). I watch them to see where they are hovering as they seem to have a pattern/territory. Once I find where they are hovering I sneak in to about the minimum focus distance of my lens. After that I just shoot and shoot till I get what I'm after.
