i'm bored. and i was wondering what the DX trinity would be. i currently own a d7000 and i have a 18-55mm, 18-105mm, 50mm 1.8g, and a 55-300mm.

from what i can glean, the only "pro" dx lens out there is the 17-55mm. i don't see myself moving towards full frame anytime soon especially when DX body capabilities are advancing so quickly.

The Dx trinity...

1) 70-200 2.8
2) 24-70 2.8
3) 14-24 2.8

These three are Nikon's trinity dx lens that are both fast and expensive..

This actually is a lot better on FX.

No kidding. I don't think Dillard understood what was being asked. Heck, I don't shoot Nikon and I still know that all of the lenses that Dillard listed would be much better served on a full frame camera.

I like my 'trinity''... 11-16, 16-50, and 50-135. These focal lengths give similar FOV's to that of the FX trinity everyone refers to. Although some people may discount them since they are all Tokina and not Canon or Nikon, I find them to be excellent lenses.

They are excellent lenses, but the Nikon "Holy Trinity" lenses are those noted.

The OP may not have meant these, but this is "Nikon's Trinity". While they may be better for FX cameras, many DX shooters love the 70-200 and the 24-70

Does Canon have a similar "Holy Trinity"? Or what would the equivalent be?

Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8 is a better choice for midrange DX zoom in my opinion.
The Sigma and Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 lenses are also quite good.

24mm just isn't wide enough on DX for a mid range zoom.

What I meant was: "as far as dx lenses go, which 3 would you get as the be-all-end-all"?Currently, I'd have to pick the 10-24mm, 17-55mm 2.8 and 35mm 1.8g (although I personally prefer the 50mm 1.8g because of the excellent bokeh and portrait focal length on a crop sensor). I'd throw in a tele zoom in there but there is no dx tele that has a fast af-s

for the price the 70-300 is great, and on a dx body that is 450mm. it focuses plenty fast for me, as long as lighting is ok
