I dropped my roll of E6 EIR off yesterday, only to find out it cant be developed due to the developing machine they use being automatic. Even though weeks before they said it wasn't a problem. I was told that he machine would mess up the colours. What other options besides home processing do I have?

Anytime you develop EIR in E6 you will get funky colors. Not sure why using an automatic machine would mess up the colors anymore that normal. Did you ask why? How old is the film? EIR was discontinued within the last two years or so. Age can also cause the shift.

It has been about 4 years since I’ve had any EIR develop with E6. Been sending my film to a lab in Dayton Beach FL that uses C-41. In fact I just mail some off to them this week.

It expired in 98, it's the E6 EIR, so wouldnt C-41 be cross processing.

EIR is a positive film, so yes using C41 would be cross processing. C41 gives less extreme colors that the E6; MY EIR

Also maybe the problem with the automatic machine is that IR light is being used to index the film. IR does not affect most standard films so it is often used for indexing.

PS DYK: EIR was first design for the military as an aerial film to shown the different between natural and camouflage landscapes. And for non-military use to shown the heath of a landscape with a range of color tones. The scientific/aerial processes are AR5/positive and AR6/negative

I think what i said was the most unintellectual thing ever. I knew that would be cross processing, now to convine my local drug store lab to do it.

Just checked the tech sheet for EIR it does not list any processing spec for C-41; but I have always heard that EIR and Aerochrome III 1443 are the same film. Aerochrome tech sheet does have the C-41 spec

I've still got a couple of EIR rolls left. I've used A&I in california to develope them. Just make sure you tell them it's Color Infared slide and the'll do it.

Too bad they don't make it anymore. I'd still like to shoot some
