I find that while my photos look nice in PS, they look a little crummy when posted online.

Any special techniques or preferred steps to make webs web ready? What size is best? Is there different sharpening or saturation you use?

    Thanks so much!

Flickr only applies slight sharpening to uploads.
Photobucket may do more compression...I dunno.

But, the biggest thing to check is what color space you are working in. Browsers also handle or don't handle different colorspaces...

    sRGB for web.

If you are looking to put them on social networks like, facebook, flicker, etc...I believe each site, or at least some of the sites, offer you the ability to select a less compressive format for downloading from within their site. Google for more info, I may have even read that on this site.
